Description

A simple and flavorful salmon dish with a sweet and mildly spicy chili glaze, perfect for quick weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (6 ounces each), skin on or off based on preference
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil
  • ½ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • ½ teaspoon rice vinegar or lime juice
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes for added heat

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes if using. Set aside.
  2. Pat salmon fillets dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Place salmon skin-side down if skin-on; cook 4-5 minutes without moving.
  5. Flip fillets and cook 2-3 minutes until opaque and flakes easily.
  6. Lower heat to medium-low and pour glaze over salmon. Spoon continuously for 1-2 minutes to thicken and coat.
  7. Remove from heat, plate salmon, and spoon remaining glaze on top.

Notes

  • Dry salmon before seasoning for crisp crust.
  • Use skin-on fillets for extra texture and moisture.
  • For baking, brush glaze on salmon and broil last 2 minutes to caramelize.
  • Cook salmon undisturbed for a golden crust.
  • Adjust heat and seasonings to taste.
