Description
A fresh and tangy homemade blueberry lemonade that combines ripe blueberries with zesty lemon juice and a touch of sweetness. Perfect for summer refreshment.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh blueberries (plus extra for garnish)
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Rinse the blueberries under cold water. Reserve some for garnish and place the rest in a blender.
- Add 1 cup cold water and half the sugar to the blender with the blueberries. Blend on high until smooth and purple.
- Strain the blueberry puree through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a large pitcher, pressing to extract juice and discarding solids.
- Pour freshly squeezed lemon juice into the pitcher with the blueberry juice and stir to combine.
- Add remaining sugar and rest of the cold water. Mix until sugar dissolves. Adjust sweetness if needed.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the blueberry lemonade over. Garnish with fresh blueberries and mint leaves if desired.
Notes
- Use ripe, fresh blueberries for best flavor and color.
- Adjust sugar to taste depending on sweetness of fruits.
- Blending with water before straining extracts more juice without excess pulp.
- Substitute granulated sugar with honey or agave syrup dissolved in warm water if preferred.
- Serve immediately over ice or chill for an hour to blend flavors.
